how many miles are on the cat? are you sure it's the cat and not just the sensor? You should easily get 100,000 miles + out of a maggie cat unless your truck has issues (plenum leak) and is burning a ton of oil...

I've put close to 30,000 miles on my truck since I installed my long tube headers, still running the original cats, no issues to date. If anything you are running leaner with headers, this should extend the life of the cats...

I second the plenum leak- oil will make short work of a cat.. If you do swap o2 sensors though, make certain and get NTK/NGK's.. for some reason our 5.9's hate Bosch, which is likely the most popular brand out there.. Header shouldn't hurt your cat at all..

all of that being said: Magnaflows (which I run too) are known to have problems.. Some work out for a long time and flow really well, while others (of exact model and even lot number) blow the eff up in no time.. You may have just gotten unlucky.. You may also be able to take it up directly with magnaflow too..

just my .02..
