..in my experience..you get one or the other...a stock diesel runnin 15's or a chipped turbo cummins runnin 11's and better...almost no in-between...I have one the fastest na stock block hemi qc's around with a lot of money into her (and run 13.10 1/4's)...i ran a stacked diesel on the street and he walked away from me....he was actually shocked that the race was much closer then he thought (lost by 1 length after about a 1/4 mile)..

you aint gonna touch a ctd. dont waste your time. my last truck was a f350 with the 7.3 and all i had was a programmer, exhaust and cai and I played with hemis all day long. now im saving up for a REAL truck and looking for a 2500 or 3500 5.9. stock the ctd is already at 600-650 ft pounds of torque and thats what pins you in your seat and gets you going. throw a programmer on that and your now in the mid 700 torque area. why waste your time and money with the hemi when you could just buy a ctd? now im all pro dodge and will never go back and this 4.7 i got is just to hold me over but why even compare the ctd to a hemi? when you wanna really haul tail and make heads turn get a ctd, throw a programmer on it and a cai and dump the exhaust, no muffler or cat cause you can get away with that on a diesel and get ready to buy a lot of rear tires lol

Yea, I drove a 2004 2500 4-door Cummins, and that thing when I hammered on it had about as much get up and go as my uncle's 2500HD 6.0 Vortec with a stock trailer on back.

I have a 08 2500 with the hemi and am tired of these diesls blowin that black smoke in my face!! I have a K&N cold air intake, Superchips programer, and flowmaster 50 series exuast. What should be my next upgrades to make my truck go faster? I also pull a 30 foot camper and travel alot of highway miles across the country so i cant put like 4.10 gears or any thing crazy. Im bout to do a tune up and was wondering if anybody has bought them MDS coil packs? Was also wondering if anybody uses any of these new crazy spark plugs they got out. Thanks for any help!
First, your not going to beat a CTD in all out power
2nd, thease dudes with the tripped out lifted CTD sink a lot of money into thier trucks, just so they can go fast on pavement, drive a chipped ctd on a gravel road at high speeds and thease guys roll thier trucks, gravel is = to driving on ball bearings..
(SAME COULD BE SIAD FOR SOME HEMI OWNERS )
3rd, who cares, the hemi is a great engine, nothing wrong with it all, even in stock fourm in a 2500 its the best gas engine in a 3/4 ton.
4rth THe CTD is suited for torque, torque gets you moving quickly, I;m speaking of the 5.9, the new 6.7 really hasent won me over ( posted in the CTD section )
My hemi is in a nice SLT reg cab 4x4, if your in a quad cab, or quad cab with a long box, the hemi is not built for drag racing, just quit and save your money, or up grade as you see fit and leave the CTD crowd alone.

There's nothing magic about the CTD's power production. It's because it's big cubes + forced induction. The fact that it's in a HD truck means the rest of the drivetrain is better prepared to handle the power. Diesel is particularly suited to forced induction because it better tolerates the added heat.
You can turbo a Hemi, but like any add-on turbo it isn't anywhere near as good as a factory setup. Aftermarket programming methods just don't offer he same level of tuning control as an OEM setup. If there was a way to fit a Roots-style blower to a Hemi it'd be a lot closer comparison.
The inline 6 form is not holding back the Cummins in the power department. That's an inherently strong package with better natural balance and thicker walls in the block.
FWIW, gasoline engines can make the same kind of power. My brother's Mercedes (CL65 AMG) makes 740 torque bone stock, and does so from 2k through 4k rpm. Chip it and it goes to over 900 ft/lbs. That's just what turbos + cubes (6.0 liter v12) will do for you.
I run even with a friend's chipped/intake/exhaust 2wd 7.3 Excursion. I know, mine is 1k lbs lighter since it's a 1500 but I'm still happy with "just" a Hemi.
