This is a markVIII fan I had in my rig for a while. It completely covers the radiator.

And this is the one you have. Check out the mounting tabs and size- two different fans.

There are controllers that are even more expensive than that one. But I figured that one was good bc it was rated at more amps than the fan draws and it has a nice soft start feature which starts the fan at less than full speed so as to not put a huge draw on the system all at once.

I tested my Taurus fan with an amp clamp. Running 16 amps on low speed, 42 on high.

I never checked the diode wiring, but that makes sense on the dual wiring. I'm no idiot Alpheus, I know electricity and was never concerned with using both speeds, so I didn't bother.

If I do got electric on the Hemi, it will either be a Mark VIII or 4.6L mid 90's T-Bird/Cougar. Not worried to much right now until I find out whether my Lifetime Powertrain Warranty is going to go away or not.

The $35 Hayden adj. thermostat kit works great for low speed, but I would be leery of using high with it due to the small 14gauge wiring on the load side of the relay.

Happy motoring

I sold it when I got my viper fan. Even on low speed it moved a lot of air!

why did you upgrade, just a better fan? I have found a couple Mark VIII fans on ebay. Would you say this is a better fan then a taraus fan? With the Mark fans you dont need the stock shroud? How will this work with a body lift?

It should fit with a body lift. The Mark VIII is a good fan. Looks like it fits really well too.

You got a pic of the Viper fan Rubberfrog?

The markviii is equally as good as the viper fan. I "upgraded" simply because my junkyard markviii looked a little rough.

The markviii does not need a shroud and actually covers the radiator better then the viper fan does.

I don't have a pic of it on the truck.

sweet then going with a Mark fan vice a turaus fan will save me work in the long run, going with the body lift and all. I would imagine everything is still the same (wiring and relays)? Thanks for your help and input.

The Lincoln fan is a completely different animal. Yes they do pull the amps at start up. People are getting those mixed up with the 3.8 liter ford fans. I could not use the Lincoln fan on my truck because I don't have a radiator cap on my radiator like you do. Mine is on the over fill tank and that bolted to the stock shroud so I had to keep my stock shroud and went with the 3.8 Ford fan to fit inside it. The wiring diagram will work the same its just that you need to upgrade your relays to:
