So what I ended up doing was loosen the cam bolt cap bearings and was then able to move the cam into position. Once I got the chain on the sprocket I torques down to 8 ft lbs. did the same on the other side. Here is a pic of rhe timing chain completed and heads torqued 20 ft lbs + 90 degrees + 90 degrees as the Manual states. Have timing cover gasket on order because I forgot to order but should be here Sunday. Should be able to start her Monday or Tuesday.
Hey Assembly Grommets New fel-pro gasket
guys,
Had another good day yesterday assembling the motor. Got the timing cover on and torqued along with the valve covers and harmonic balancer. I am using Fel-Pro gaskets and they seem to be mopar blue. I know they aren’t but I just like the coloring accent. Here is a pic from last night.

Nice. I used those too when I did my lifters and valve stem seals. I decided I didn't want to use any RTV or rubber cement to hold the gaskets into the cover, so they wouldn't fall out once I inverted them for install. So.... I came up with this rubber band method. Worked rather well. The rubber bands are easily removed once the cover is situated. I coated the gaskets and channels and surfaces with dielectric grease so everything would slide and smush nicely.
OK, Long day. Completed assembly and fired her up. She turned over 2-3 times and ignited...was the happiest sound I ever heard. I still need to put fan and fan shroud on. Currently just water in rad because I thought I had a gallon of anti-freeze but couldn't fine any. So tomorrow will be a trip to the store for a few small items. My only concern is that it sounds a little rough but no lights on the dash, almost like a small misfire. Not sure where to go with that. Possibly need to just run her for a while and I am pretty sure all vacuum lines are connected.....I'll get a video up soon..
