You guys really need to stay on this and not let it end up the way the dash did in our older trucks. Now all of us are stuck with them. Crap like this is what happens when they try to turn a truck into a car.

Don't mean to stray from topic, but they did not try to turn the truck into a car. Air conditioned seats were an option - an option I very much appreciate. You didn't have to order them. It's very unfortunate that people are having an issue with the seats and yes it would be great if we could get Chrysler to fix this, but let's not discourage them from offering nice options on trucks. If you want a work truck you can still get the vinyl seats or the stain resistant fabric.

Not an option on my laramie truck at all, the way it sat on the lot, it is a great feature to have, what everyone has to realize is that there are always issues with a first year model change trucks regardless of make, chance you take, initially I was going to wait until the next year to buy but with the great deals I bought one and yes I have an issue with my seat, no problems, my dealer has it at their upholstery shop that they deal with looking into the issue, I can only say that at least they have someone who knows what there doing look into it, and ultimately in the end if there fixes don't work will look into demanding Katzkins, who knows.

It is an option because my Laramie does not have the ventilated leather seats. Granted you have to get the bench seat, but it is an option. I have a Laramie and leather and non-cooled seats. I'm not arguing any other point, I just wanted to point out that he was correct in saying it was an option.

So ... Got an email from Chrysler today. They want me to fill out a survey about owner satisfaction with ... wait for it ...heated & cooled seats on my truck!
YES!
I gave them an earfull about my distorted "leather".
Could it be they're starting to address the issue?

My corvette and the wife's H3 have/had each made more trips to the dealer for issues than all 3 of the Dodge trucks I have owned combined.

But there's nothing wrong with GM trucks. I personally can't stand 1500 Chevy's, but the GMC's are nicer and the Allison tranny that comes with the Duramax is pretty nice.
Just ran across this thread, mine was built 9/09 (2010 model) and has 4K on it and the seats are still tight. Yes they are ventilated buckets.

As far as other trucks my old 53K sticker priced 2007.5 GMC duramax leather seats looked like hell after 40K miles, they were cracked and worn badly. Not sure if I'd rather have the waves or the cracks.

My '09 Pontiac G8 with 9K miles on it has red perforated leather centers and the drivers seat is pretty stretched out already, not quite a wrinkly as the OP's but looks pretty bad. Not to mention the red little things that stick out of all the holes, looks like a giant red chia pet lol, but at least if gives me something to do when the wife is shopping and I'm waiting in the car.

My 2007 Corvette driver's seat covers are junk after 29K miles, it will be replaced before the 3/36 is up in april. The bolster where the side airbag is is almost completely worn through and the bottom is cracking/splitting on the outer edge.

I just traded in a '09 Grand Caravan with cloth seats, the drivers seat looked like a '79 Volare with 250,000 mile son it after 12K miles, not to mention they stained with just water spilled on them - horrible seats.

FWIW my 2005 and 2001 GMC 1/2 tons and 2003 Durango with cloth seats looked llike new after 50K miles. I probably should have gotten cloth but the black/brown inserts looked pretty bad to me, if I would have known there were issues with these seats I would have just got the cloth. Big thanks to the OP for the effort, I was a warranty admin for Ford for 15 years and they most likely wont redesign anything or switch vendors for a trim/cosmetic issue. Best chance is to have Dodge pay for an outside vendor to fix it, after 4-5 replacements it would save them money in the long run.

If mine wrinkles up I'll wait until the 3/36 is almost done and then get it replaced right before I trade it in

got your point but I guess mine went over your head, maybe maybe not, just that many did not order their trucks like me, glad to have the option from the lot. Definately dont think the truck is a car, but do like the refinements of the ram, definately going in the positive direction, some just want a truck to open up hose it off and be done, others like the features that are added.

My ventilated seats are actually tearing right in the middle towards the front. I have under 10K miles on the truck and I wear dress pants everyday. I took it to the dealer and they have no estimate on the time it will take to get a replacement. They said they had a Grand Caravan leather seat on order for two months now. I sure hope Chrysler doesn't fall through on this one!

Don't get your hopes up, I've been waiting since August for a seat cover for the same problem you described.

The serice writer at my dealership called today 2/10/10.

Said the new seat cover ordered for mine has an ETA of 2/16/10 now.
Has not had an ETA for months.

Sharon; the service writer; said the new seat cover was being supplied by a new vendor. That is why it has taken so long.
Belive what you want.

I just read through some of this. My heated and ventilated seat was part of an option package that had many things I wanted.
It was not an option to get all the options in that package and get different seats..over a year back it was not an option.

and for the fellow who called me a dude making a big deal out of nothing.
I simply asked a question in that first post.
My seat is an ugly mess. 7336 miles. Already on its second seat cover.
I paid for a warranty. I want it fixed. Dealer orderd it 12/5/09.

I have a 2004 GTO with black leather. Not worn at all 31,036 miles.
Just to reply to the vette comparison.

As a rule I do not buy first run vehicles. I broke my own rule. Nice truck that 2009 Dodge Ram. Has some problems...for me the seat cover being its biggest.
Should have waited but my 98 Ram stranded me for the last time the week before I traded it.

I hope everyone got that seat cover survey from Chrysler and submitted it. Hope even more there is enough folks who have this same problem to make them look into it more
I sure as hell did. They acknowledge a problem by sending that seat cover satisfaction survey out for reply.
Maybe why there is a new vendor.... who knows. These seat covers were being made in Juarez, MX. By a sub of Honeywell. We will see...maybe.

Anyhow...2/26/10 is that latest eta for seat covers. No promises.
