Oil change and K&N drop in
I just did my first oil change (M1 5W-20, K&N filter) and replaced the OEM air filter with the K&N drop in. I'll update if I notice a difference from the air filter. I jacked up and checked the oil without starting the truck and it was low so I added an extra quart the started the truck and checked and now it's over. I'm a genius!

Depends on how much overfull. Even a little overfill adds pressure to your front and rear seals. Overfill enough where the crankshaft is hitting the oil causing a foaming effect and your pressure will drop. Check engine light will come on. Over full causing this foaming will not lubricate properly and prematurley burn the engine up.
general rule.
"Do not overfill" as it says on the dip stick.
Drain some out..

You should definitely drain it back to the safe level. If your oil level is above the safe line it can mean that it is near or at the the level of your crankshaft. This won't hurt the crank, but if the crank is within reach of the oil the rotation of the crank in the oil will cause your oil to become aerated which in turn makes it difficult if not impossible for the oil pump to pump the oil through your system. While your oil level on level ground may not reach the crank, it may reach it when you are on an incline.

If you end up having to drain some of the oil, I bet you wish you would've had this. http://www.quickoildrainvalve.com/ I've put one on all of my vehicles and I wouldn't go without it.
