myhikingboots,

So the center speaker holds 3 1/2" speakers as well? heck that may be a good place to put some tweeters then angle them to the outside. Got a few sets of tweeters laying around too.

I was going to go Infinity, but they are not 4 ohm speakers, and when I run it, i will be running a 2 ohm stereo load for the 6x9's and my amp won't handle a 1-1.5 ohm load that they would have presented it.

Hey Wader999, I was just checking the specs on the 3.5" Infinities and they spec a 1" tweeter.

Good luck on the center tweeter install. If I were you I would create some sort of custom plate to mount the tweeters into the factory spot. I'm curious on the how they will sound. I haven’t replaced the factory center speaker yet, and still considering options.

I have also considered replacing the rear 2.5” speakers in the headliner with some tweeters mounted in a custom plate angled more towards the front as opposed to straight down. But after looking at the factory alpine speaker, I was impressed by the size of the huge magnet it had for such a small driver. I am thinking it supplies a lot of rich midrange, so I may just keep these.

Next on the list is some sound proofing and replacing the rear door speakers with Infinity 3-ways. After that, many moons from now, I’ll be replacing the factory sub with a 10” JL sub and amp.

Finished installing my other dash speaker, it was not as difficult as the driver (probably because I knew what I was getting into.) It is still messy, I would clean it up, but you can't see it. I will also need to add a screw, but it is secure now. I will be on a road trip so I will listen for anything, then fix it when I return.

The factory dash speakers are 8 ohm, so any 4 ohm speaker will probably put out more sound.

It was stressing to cut up the speaker area, but it is not as bad as it looks, just messy.

Default question about wires

i started this project on my 2010 1500 tonite....and it seemed to go relatively well considering having to get out a dremel and saw to cut up my new truck!!!

two questions though.... the antenna adapter has a red wire on it...where does it go to? and the interface module has a blue wire that goes to nothing......it is some sort of power/system control wire......do these two go together??? i powered everything up and it works...but no speakers hooked up yet....doing that tomorrow....putting amps in!!

second question. the factory radio has the white plug in on back (antenna i assume) and an orange one (sirius i assume). i plugged in antenna adapter to the white. my pioneer fhp8000bt is satellite ready....and i bought the pioneer tuner and the sirius tuner and have it all hooked up. instead of running wire from the sirius tuner to the outside of my truck for the signal.....shouldnt i be able to tie into the factory wire that already goes to the external of the truck??

thx!!! time to get to bed

I'm not sure about the wire on the antenna adapter, mine did not have one. I did however use the factory Sirius antenna, I just took off the square orange plastic clip on the factory cable and plugged it into the top of the SCC1 Sirius tuner. I'll post a pic of how I mounted it.

thmupr: did you use your factory sirius box and connect it to an aftermarket HU?

Ok, so let me get this strait... If my current 09 RAM has Sirius already, and I want to install a new unit (I'm thinking about the Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD) and also keep Sirius SAT Radio, then besides the new head unit, I'll also need the Pioneer CD-SB10 (Sirius Bus Interface) and a Sirius SCC1 (Connect Universal Tuner)? So the only stock thing I can actually keep is the antenna on top of the truck? That's pretty stupid. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks for your help.
