05 dak. thats exactly why im giving it some time to let some other people do the leg work figuring out exactly how the shift schedule thing works.

by stacking: i think they mean, not having the same values put in for say 2up and 2down. which probably led to the trans confusion/neutral thing like you mentioned

im running the sc shift schedule with the torque adjusted to 8% and im pretty happy right now.

I ran a couple of the other scheudles posted here. It made a noticble difference. At lower RPMs it waits longer to shift and will downshift sooner, which is the whole point. But.... The changes made crusing at 35-40 and 45-50 to high in the RPM range as it never up shifted to the gear you would expect once cruising. This is no good for me as it is my DD and I do need to get "decent" MPGs.

I tired a few changes with no luck. The thing that really stinks is everytime you make a change figure 20-30 minutes of time to program it into the flashpaq then flash the truck. I went back to the SC schedule with custom reduced TM settings. This is where I am staying.

I have made one 0-60 run since the TM settings. I ran a 5.81, my best before was a 5.72. The issue is now the launch is very hard, meaning hard to apply the power and keep from going up in smoke. Although it is not as bad as my SRT launch

So I recall reading in this thread that the Superchips was meant to work on a stock truck. So - will adding an aftermarket intake make any difference with the Superchips tunes?

They designed it for intake and exhaust also.

UPDATE

I got my shift schedule loaded in my trucks ECM using the Cortex TOW TUNE. TM is set at Superchips proprietary setting so I don't know the actual values.

Did a 20 mile test drive through hilly terrain at 40 - 60mph on a back road and it behaved really well; i.e. remained in 5th with only a few downshifts to 4th and no downshifts to 3rd under light to moderate accelerator pedal movement.

Then I took it out on an interstate with moderate grades and mild overpasses.
At a constant 70-75mph it never downshifted and maintained speed. I did this with and without cruise control.

P.S. On the interstate run at 70-75 I was getting 22.2mpg on the overhead. i never got better than 19 at that speed before. Interesting.

Full accelerator pedal and it downshifted to 3rd but I could never get it to downshift to 2p if I was above55mph. I suspected this might occur since my graph lines are all parallel and way to the left axis of the graph.

Later this week I'll be towing a 4200lb RV for 150 miles through similar terrain and I'm starting out with a half tank of 89 gas. If I suspect detonation I'll fill up with 93. If my custom shift schedule doesnt perform as expected I'll switch back to "STOCK TUNE".

IF I KNEW HOW TO POST MY SHIFT SCHEDULE GRAPH AND SPREADSHEET I WOULD.

Any suggestions ????

How was the big pull? Anyone else get a new Superchips? I am kind of on the fence and yes I read all 74 pages of this. I cant get a response back from Scott over PMs...

300 mile round trip. light winds. 90 deg. OAT. moderately hilly terrain. 4200lb RV. 89 gas going. 87 gas returning.

60-65mph in 5th od and 4th od half and half
70mph 4th od only

round trip avg = 9.7mpg
tranny temp = 190-205 steady

NOT IMPRESSIVE

I may experiment with the shift schedule some more but I really cant see that the SC part throttle tuning will enhance my towing experience.

Knowing what I know now, I would prefer to have spent the SC $$ on 3.92 or 4.10 gears.

The gears definitely shouldn't help with mpg while towing...

Where exactly did you drive? (I'm from the Austin area as well).

I take our 4,750lbs boat from about Parmer & 620 to Lago Vista, up/down 1431 and with all of the idling to hook up, load, unload, etc. I get about 7.8 - 7.9mpg, but there are some serious hills along that route and plenty of idling as I get the boat cover on, etc.

Btw, I didn't realize they sold a 2wd TRX?

Wimberley to College Station round trip.
My MPG average does not include idling.

2wd TRX - there were 4 on the lot in Dec when I bought mine. Decided that the extra cost and weight were not worth the 4wd.

Re: gears: My experience with the 05 Dak and 4.10 gears was increased mpg due to more time in 5th od at cruise speeds and fewer downshifts to 4th od & 3rd with uphill grades and headwinds.

Off topic but hope you can help.

I just ordered my SC Cortex for my 2010 really excited to play with this. On a side note, while waiting for the SC 2010 tune I bought a Diablo Preditor. Honestly I have nothing really bad to say about it but I do not see the sence in keeping both..

What do I have to do to sell it? Do I have to send it back to Diablo to clear it or just return my truck to stock tune? I know I read about some people selling them used... what is the proceedure?

Thanks in advance..

Also now looking forward to reading this complete thread
