Good News ECO Flash finally
That's not true......They had to replace my whole PCM module because some tech added in a 2WD flash on my 4WD truvk
Yes your truck should qualify. I got mine done at Southside Dodge in Red Deer. Where do you live?
When I bought my truck There was a sticker under the hood that stated "PCM updated with 68###8040AB" or some similar number.
I had read about the MSD delay when shifting and copied the number for the fix from someone on the 4th gen forum. (Mine never had a problem, I was just trying for the fuel saver light). I brought it to another local dealer and asked if they would apply this new flash if applicable to my truck. About 4 hrs later I received a phone call from the service writer and he said that it was a good thing that I requested that update because when they checked the PCM had been flashed with a 2WD version of something from another dealer. I asked if it could be re flashed with the correct version for my 4WD truck. I was advised that they had talked with Star Scan and was told that they would have to replace the whole PCM module and flash it with the correct application and that he had ordered a new PCM and would need the truck overnight.
When I got the truck back it had a new sticker over the old one under the hood with a "Powertrain Control Module #68059440AB used".
So to sum it up, No I didn't notice anything different or wrong before or after the service and I can only go on what the dealer told me......Go Figure!
Its been a number of years since I left the business. But the way it worked or so I was told was that it was impossible to do a flash if the latest was already in the pcm. That it was impossible to do a wrong flash. It just would not take it/Now there has been a number of PCMs replaced then and now over the PCM getting locked and malfunctioning when a flash was being done.Requiring a new pcm.I have had vehicles come in and not drive back out until the new pcm was installed.New pcm have to have the vehicle vin installed to work.
I was told part of the problem is that some things are done with starscan and some with witech and well as a survivor of 14 hours to get my uconnect starscanned in I know first hand if a dealer puts rrt's or updates in your system incorrectly or the incorrect update as long as the vehicle runs and doesn't spit any warning on the dash you are good to go.I am not gonna tell this whole story again but one dealer did a bunch of updates at the same time as doing my uconnect and they messed it all up. Second dealer the next day spent 7 hours fixing it or 6 and a half figuring out what the problem was first then they had to take everything the other dealer did out and only put the ones that applied to my vehicle they did updates for things I don't have which was probably the problem so yes the vehicle will accept the wrong stuff. Luckily nothing got messed up so far so good been around 6 or so months now I have a lockpick waiting on 2 cameras, they got shipped to Florida, Now I have to wait on another shipment 2 more weeks.
You probably did, but did you check to see if the "light" was an option in the setup menu? Maybe they forgot to select it.
Mine was like that. You have to be in Park running and then you going into your EVIC find the fuel saver light on off and check the on. If not there it is possible some real early builds do not have the actual spot in the cluster for the fuel saver.
