2012 Dodge Ram HEMI, Brand New, 2,000miles, Engine Knock - UPDATE!
Does Dodge Canada have any clue how bad this all looks? I said this a while ago, the jerking continues, now when will they step up and put this issue to bed?
And to top it off.. I received the most recent news from Oxford Dodge, 20 minutes before taking my Wife out for a valentines day dinner, and an Eric Church concert. It really ruined my evening. I tried so hard to not let it ruin it, but it did. I'm SO pissed at this whole process.
This has also been really stressful on my family. My wife is really concerned about spending so much money on this vehicle, that we can't drive because it goes into the dealership every other week. I havn't tinted the windows yet because I don't know what the outcome will be. I havn't even filled up the truck with gas yet because if it goes into the dealership, it will sit there with a full tank of gas and my gas budget for that week / month will be blown.

It goes from BAD to WORSE
Service manager called me back at 5pm. He said that he sent some "computer data" to Chrysler Canada for them to 'review', and see if they can find a 'better' way to shift this truck into 4H. He asked me to bring the rental car back, and pickup my truck, and 'if' Chrysler Canada gets back to him, and 'if' they find something then he'll contact me back. That's the best he can do about the Transfer case grind.
I told him that I refuse to drive the truck, as he says there's damage to the transfer case (gear wear), and now there's metal flakes floating around in my transfer case, and am concerned of further damage. He says there's no metal flakes in the transfer case, and it's fine to drive. I said NO, I'm not bringing the rental car back.
Well, he didn't like that very much, and we got into a shouting match. Telling me to go to another dealership, and "This isn't even our truck" (meaning I didn't buy it from them), and "You've gotta work with us here" (Riiiiight, cause 66 days of the truck being in the shop, and me being patient the whole time isn't working with you). We both hung up the phone, and I called the general manager. He said to hang on to the car till Tuesday, and maybe Chrysler Canada will get back to us with something.
So, they don't think it's a defect with the truck, and that it's normal and working as designed. They say it's just a design issue with the Ram truck, and I need to live with it.

I would literally ask him to prove that "none" of the other inventory on the dealership lot has the same transfer case symptoms your Ram is experiencing. I realize transfer cases are not cheap new, however it would probably of been slightly less expensive then their first objective with the assumption of the vibration.
If he claimed there was premature wear within the transfer case, and the best justifiable answer stated being "It's normal, and a design flaw by Chrysler, " is absolutely ludicrous. Openingly admitting a potential problem occurring and ignoring a prompt repair which is covered by warranty with a binding contract. Gee, I wonder who would prevail in a small claims court???
Also, the dealer told Chrysler Canada that there are 3 transfer cases, and "I have the one that needs to be rocked in reverse with light throttle before driving forward in 4x4". Hahaha. This is comical, but upsetting.
My lawyer and I have again reopened our camvap (arbitration) case and will proceed with a buy back. I have also given them one more chance to fix the truck, just to show that I'm willing to work with a repair.

You might want to also look into the other transfer case options, sounds like the style you now have MIGHT be one that you wouldnt want again just for the issues its had. Not knowing which one you have, i have just the straight up 4x4 transfer case, have NEVER had one issue with it since day one. The other 2010 hemi 4x4 truck i have, same exact transfer case as in my 2010 hemi quad cab sport, not once have ever had an issue with that one either. Neither one of my 2010 hemi trucks have the "AUTO" 4x4 transfer case`s. I`m curious, which one do you have...??? Auto or Non Auto transfer case...???
Anyhowwwwww.......... GOOD LUCK TO YOU, i hope it all works out for you...! These ram trucks are pretty dam good trucks, i`ve not had any major mechanical issues at all with any of the hemi trucks i`ve owned since 2005 other than the noisey torque converters in these 4th gen trucks. My main problems have been with more than inferior dealerships with lousy mechanics that cant even fix anything correctly. Not once can i ever remember that they`ve done the job right the first time where i had to go back to have the job re-done. That gets old i tell ya. Most of them shouldnt even be allowed to work on a bicycle. Today, us old timers call them the "Bolt-On Bandits". Seems all they can do today is just keep bolting parts on until its finally fixed...lol. The problem is, they bolt parts onto the rear when the problem is actually in the front...lol. These monkeys today dont know where to start from...lol lol lol. Dieing breed for sure..!
I wish dodge would step up and do the right thing for him, and also compensate greatly him for the loss.
Mezz... you are the most patient person i`ve ever heard of, i hope that you can get a new truck and get out from under this one you have now. Personally, if it were me, i`d dam sure try to get them to take it back if at all possible and get another truck.... but thats just me. Some people like to keep what they have after problems are solved. Its a choice you will have to think about if the time presents itself. If you feel the truck is ok, other than the issues you`ve had, and they DO happen to get it fixed finally right, then keep it if you have a good feeling about it. As i`ve said, i probably wouldnt keep it if it were me.
