Warranty / Exhaust
They could be using it to create or retain back pressure but are most likely using them to cut down on droning or tune the sound.
I think if your hp numbers were suffering, you would know it. I am as positive as I can be without a dyno that mine have not decreased. The car runs stronger than ever throughout the rpm range.

Why is it that Magnaflow and I think the Borla systems leave the resonators in place, or replace them with their own? I see them tucked up under the rear bumper. Do we need those resonators there to keep the back pressure where it belongs? I hope I haven't killed my horse power by hacking them off.

is vacuum. The way I see it, as long as we can get the exhaust moving past the
cats more efficiently, then things should run a bit cooler and bring the HP up a
bit.
He also mentioned the series 40 Flowmaster would be the loudest, with the
MagnaFlow a bit quieter, and the DynoMax the quieter of the three. I did not
ask about the Borla.
I love the Flowmasters. I wouldn't change them for the world. The car sounds aggressive but on the highway is a total pussycat. Anything less just isn't enough. It's a real head turner when I pull away from the toll plaza's under 1/2 to 3/4 throttle.

If you want the sound of a "big block", you must remove the catalitic converters. I ran Flowmasters on my 96' Impala SS with the cats removed, it sounded awesume.
I had a lot of guys ask me if I had a big block motor in it, nope, just a 350.
I don't intend to remove the cats on my Magnum RT, even though Florida does not do emissions testing, because the air is so clean here.
I have Flowmasters on it now, will probably remove the resonators in a week or two.
Car is too quiet with them on.

Thanks Bob....living California makes it tough to drop the cats. [:@]
I am leaning toward the Flowmasters as well. I am trying to decide
on the series 40 or series 50. I think I may drop the resonators from
the start.

Here's what it sounds like driving off. No, I didn't have it wide open... didn't want to scare the neighbors whos kids were right there.

This is how quiet it is when you're not on the gas at all... this is me coming back.

Tim Very cool clips.....Thanks for sharing with us. I have an appointment
with the shop, on Monday, to get the exhaust swapped out. It does not sound
nearly as loud as I have been thinking it would.
My main concern is the sound level inside the car.....did it go up much?

On the highway, not really... just a nice engine sound that is easily muffled by the radio. Under full acceleration, you're going to notice it. But cruising around it's not bad at all. It sounds, dare I say, like a Cobra Mustang - but much better of course.

Thanks Tim....
Sounds good to me....we traded a '96 Mustang GT Conv to get the Magnum. The Mustang had
flowmasters on it, but my thinking is that the Magnum may not be nearly as loud, within the
interior, due to the fact that it is not a convertable and that the Magnum will run on the highway
at lower RPM's
