Should be a port you can connect to on your filter head.

Just for good sport . . ..

- Check both blue wires that connect to the fuel cut-off solenoid on the back of the IP. They may be loose and intermittently releasing the solenoid. Just check it.

- Check the wiring associated with the crankshaft position sensor. It's located at about 10:00 above the dampener. See that the wires are good all the way back to the main harness above the intake manifold.

Maybe . . . .

Are you running the OEM diaphragm type lift pump? It may very well be on its way out. It could be sucking a little air internally (is your oil level going up?). check the fuel lines from the tank forward. You have plastic hose but the ends (connectors) may be sucking air.

You really need a fuel pressure gage to see what's going on there. It's best to connect it in the line between the fuel filter and the IP. Many use the port for bleeding air located on the outlet fitting of the filter mount.

There is a screen in the tank assembly.

after reading through this thread for the 2nd time, I'd be wondering if the emergency fuel shut-off on that VE pump(if it has one) is bouncing around causeing this.

kev_n_az....
Don't know if I can help on the hoses. The only thing I can scrounge up is 2.5" x 4"-4.5". They also don't have the big bulge in the center, which is there just for flexability. Most everything is 3" anymore. If you think they might work let me know. The newer hoses are also twice as thick as the old ones.

There is a fuel solenoid that may have some debris in it, and there is a
shutdown lever on the side of the pump that isn't connected to anything, but may
be stuck on something.

I purchased a VE Fuel Injector Pump (for my 1993 Dodge 3/4 Cummins 5.9L)
maybe 6 months ago from your company. I am having a fuel delivery issue at this
time, and would like to know of there is an "emergency shut off" valve, or any
other manual shut off on the VE pump that may have vibrated to a partially
closed position. Through throuble shooting, and technical inquiries, I am
trying to narrow down the possibilities of malfunction.

any idea on the VE pump would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

On the p7100 pumps we used to zip tie the fuel shutoff in the run position. If it quite acting up, we knew it was the shutoff solenoid.

The VE and P-pump fuel shut-off solenoids are two totally different animals.

The P-pump tugs on some linkage. The VE solenoid screws into the case of the VE and lifts a plunger from a seat allowing flow when energized. The MOST common problem with the VE solenoid comes about when one starts cranking up the fuel. It quickly gets to a point it literally rips a plug of rubber from the plunger's tip, As such, the truck won't shut down with the key. One has to tug the manual shutdown lever, hence the "Pull-Cable Club".

Never heard of one intermittently restricting fuel unless there was an intermittent 12vdc supply to it's terminal.

The manual fuel shut-off lever is spring loaded default to the on position, Shafts and bolts. Never heard of an issue there either.

You need to come up with some means of seeing the running fuel pressure supply to the IP. . . . . . When the stutter happens to verify a fuel supply related issue.
