RE: Engine choking out at throttle up...
since the outside air temp has increased from this morning, the truck did the same thing again....
this is madning!!
I will change the fuel filter, and check for loose electrical again.
then blow the fuel line from ther lift pump back to the tank (hoping its just a screen in the tank and not a fliter element)....
geez.....

RE: Engine choking out at throttle up...
just called my local Dodge mechaanic at the dealer.
from my description, he says it sounds like fuel.
I am going to replace the fuel filter.
the fuel sender in the tank is only a pick up tube with a coarse net sock over it for large debris.
all fuel pumps on my truck are under the hood..lift and fi ...
the next thing is the lift pump
Istill wonder if its not the fuel mix I have going...
the last thing would be the rencently installed f i pump..thats under warranty, but not the labor [:@]

RE: Engine choking out at throttle up...
Thanks Ken!!
ok updtae....
replaced the fuel filter with another one.
just bled the fuel injector supply lines. every injector caused the idle to become more eratic when it was opened...so I would conlude that the fi pump is puttin out...
I am going to ride this out for the next few days.
will be looking high and low for loose electrical. I am hoping that the lift pump is ok..it runs over $200 smackers at Dodge
any and all ideas are welcome!!!

ORIGINAL: Mayfair
Maybe yougot a bad load of fuel.
Maybe yougot a bad load of fuel.
I filled back up at 1/3 tank. dumped in the other half of the PS bottle and 24oz of 2 stroke oil.
I usually dont fill up till Im down toa 1/4 tank lessening the possibility of having too much PS or any other additive when I fill back up.
the general consensus now is its a fuel issue. with that said, would an extreme amount of power service in the fuel cause a malfuction???
the bottle says that it treats up to 100 gallons.. so if I had 24 gallons of diesel mixed with 3/4 of PS, thats enough for say..75 gallons according to the bottle????

Cut apart your old filter and look for metal particles in it. If there is metal its a good chance that your lift pump is shot. Check fuel pressure with it running at idle, high idle, and at full load (stall test). If the fuel pressure is fine it probably is the injector pump.
