Thanks Dusty,
I am making a long (wish!) list right now of some minor mods that I would be doing to my little goat over the next few months. Yesterday she turned the 1000 mile marker on her little wheels! Looking at her business hat last night I thought it would be nice to have made her snout (hood insert) functional for transcending air down to the turbo? i.e. like a static air graber etc. The air filter would have to have been much wider off course to allow adequate air volume...hmmm maybe a future project... I still get a big kick out her sudden torque when the Turbo kicks in on third! Now thats what Mopar means!
The front strut tower braces really do improve the handling of the car. I, like dusty, have the MPx front STB and I like it. I prefer the strength, stiffness and rigidity of the DC front STB since it is a solid peice without any moving joints or parts, but it has a flat plate right over the turbo where the hood scoops cooler air flows down to the turbo. The plate has holes in this plate on the ends, but not in the middle where they need to be to allow the cooler air to be able to get to the turbo. This and the $100+ price tag is why I chose to go with the MPX front STB. Here is a picture of my MPx front STB:

The hood scoop and it's insert is indeed 100% fully functional, it flows air through the ducting straight back onto the turbo to help keep the turbochargers temperature down. If you look into or stick a finger into the scoop you will see and or feel that it is open and directs the air down and back. I modified mine by cutting out the part that diverts the air down into the hood, this way it will just go straight back and will flow more air as well. The guys at PVO also made a nice little added ducting on the drivers side that just happens to be directly over the air box. If you cut matching holes on this duct and the air box and use a rubber seal you will get functional ram air for free.[sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley4.gif][sm=smiley2.gif]

Here is a picture of the underside of my hood, the red boxes indicate the duct openings that cool the turbo from the hood scoop and the red circle indicates the added ducting that can be used for functional ram air:

Wow!
She sure looks good. I need to look for a job about an hour away from my house as it only takes me 15 min from work to home! This way I can enjoy my SRT a little longer...:-)
I didnt realy look at the details of the scoop but it just sounds like Ma Mopar to make it functional without chroming (advertising the fact). The more I learn about my car the happier I am that I made the right choice and bought it. I sawy the last five minutes of a show on T.V. where as a surprise they modified the SRT to the tune of 370hp! and it was still street legal! thats outstanding power from a 4 banger! or the equivelant of getting 740 hp from a small block v-8! Now thats the "ultimate driving machine" not one that costs $740,000 and puts out 174hp! (like my old U-234)....

Have a great week guys, and thanks these pictures made my day.

Regards,

Napoli

The show you watched was Tuner Transformations and you can download the entire episode from AGP's website.[sm=smiley2.gif]

O.k. I did a search on the Forum for AGP found the link and I downloaded the video!
So on my lunch brake today I will watch...
Yesterday I set a precident and broke down and bought a "compact sports" magazine, never thought I would do such a thing! they had an article about modifications to the SRT's exhaust system. The modification removed the stock exhaust and added a more "free-flowing" exhaust somewhat reminicent of the AAR's side pipe. The net gain over the stock was 4hp for about $250 not an exhorbitant number however the resulting reduction in back pressure on the engine more than justifies the change. I am not sure how the driver would feel after a few hours of driving with the nosie of that side pipe next him....

Thanks again for the AGP info!
Regards,
Napoli

Let's see.....that works out to $62.50 per 1 horsepower. Boy, whoever said speed costs money wasn't kidding....think I'll pick up a copy of that myself....[&:]

Yeah, they have an ongoing project SRT-4. I think the exhaust, which is the newest, is part 5 of the project car.
