I have yet to see a 2nd gen dodge truck turn the trans temp light on even when critically overheated.
I've been trying to line up my aftermarket fenders. Also when I shut the door the mirror decided to magically fall out of the housing and shatter on the cement!
What I'm getting at is that you're making a blanket statement that may or may not be true in your experience.
In my experience with our dodge, the trans temp light NEVER came on, even when it should have. That experience holds true for many of my friends, and the tranny shop I trust also said most Dodges never turn the light on around here, something we suppose is due to gravel dust getting in the trans through the breather and then clogging the temp sender.
i took my 81 for a cruise where i could get up to highway speed and things seemed to work fairly good. i think i have go all my rebuilt carb issues worked out.
