I put the new fuel pump into the gas tank.

 

I finally got started on my steel brake lines. Got the rear axle pair and long line under the bed routed and in and then wife’s Tahoe radiator spring a leak so I had to quit and shift projects. We need to keep 2/3 vehicles running to cover getting us in different directions to work and the Tahoe’s radiator seemed like a higher probability of done before bed time so now the ram sits another week.

 

Did all 3 rear driveshaft u joints and pinion seal today….thought my rear end was going to explode cuz of the creaking, snapping, popping metal sounds when I drove it…..nope there were 2 bad u joints, so might as well replace all 3….they had no play on truck, when I unbolted the shaft from pumpkin all the play showed itself

 

Tearing out most of the inside of the truck today. Removing the Spl system and getting ready to start laying out the Sq system. Gonna take a few weeks at east.

 

Got those steel brake lines in and needed a new rear wheel cylinder after I broke off a bleeder screw. Got her all bled-out, back on the road and used her to haul a load of tree limbs to the dump yesterday.

 

I swapped in a fresher set of coil packs a few weeks ago and what a difference. Towed the RV to get some work done and it had no trouble keeping up with traffic unlike my last time out towing.

 

Wow, I wouldn't think the coils would degrade that much..... considering they are only doing an eighth of the work older coils did, that lasted for decades, and hundreds of thousands of miles......

 

You’d think wouldn’t you… but I had to replace coil packs on our ‘13 Dart at around 48k.
And here’s my ‘98 Ram with over 220k on the factory coil.

 

True - the coil packs are fairly reliable, but I was getting a misfire under load. The last time I experienced a similar condition was on a Ford V-10 that was tracked back to bad coils. Rather than spend a fortune on new coils for the Ram on a hunch, I cross referenced what other vehicles used them and went and found some like new ones at the boneyard for less than what the 4 cylinder pack would cost me.
