What Did You Do To Your 2ND GEN RAM Today?

Sure am... One of the guys at a tranny shop thinks that the lug on second gear came off allowing the band to do nothing... And he also thinks the internal harness went bad, so gonna get 'er checked out... Gonna be one exciting drive to get it to either shop I would use... 40MI or more either way... <Sigh>.

welp, changed the oil and filter...11Qts (or 2.75 gallons) of Amsoil 15w-40 synthetic
eliminated the chemical isolator for my fuel pressure gauge, running diesel straight to the gauge now, and i changed the line to air brake line and got rid of the clear poly line.
put in a new t-stat and topped off the coolant. old t-stat kept getting stuck open so truck wouldn't stay warmed up. I have heat again!

it cost me about $110 for oil + shipping + 2 extra quarts that my truck will leak before its next oil change in another 15,000 miles... my cost is $7.10 a quart since I have a preferred customer/reseller account with amsoil. normal cost is like $9.35/qt
that's partially why its worth the cost...instead of every 3000 miles or 7500 miles, you change Amsoil synthetic every 15000-20000 miles.
and unlike a gasoline engine, a diesel engine does not break down its oil near as fast. it turns it black as soot, but that doesn't hurt the oil any. I actually sent a sample of my oil off to a lab to be tested for lubricity and contaminants at my previous oil change (when I blew a turbo before the twins) and it actually tested clean and still exceeded wear protection and viscosity requirements. good stuff!
