I tried it at 180 it didnt even start, I am really lost with this thing, any other ideas of what I can try.
It still dosnt make sense that it works like this.
Make sure the mark on the balancer is accurate, If the outer ring moved it will be off. Both valved closed and #1 at tdc then see if the mark is off or not. If it's ok then turn the distributor until it looks like this..
The rotor should point in the direction of the temp sensor(left side standing in front of the motor).
so here it is again, piston 1 at TDC I blew air into the cylinder, pressure built up and blew back out at me when I removed the hose, as you can see its facing the wrong direction, yet if you look at the firing order its set up with number 1 cylinder at 180 from were the rotor points, again it runs but it bogs down when i first hit the gas pedal then revs up
Ok, out of curiosity, if i put all the wires 180 degrees off to match the rotor number 1 position shouldnt that work, which I did try but that didnt work at all, This really shouldn't be working at this point
I suspect what is happening is, the computer is firing the injectors 180* off. PCM doesn't need the cam position sensor, once the engine is running, but, it sure needs it to start the engine.
If you look at how the cam sensor works it only tells the pcm where 4 of the 8 cylinders are. But the pcm needs this info other wise it doesn't know when to fire the coil/injectors. With it 180* out it's firing the wrong cylinders. Pull the distributor put it back in 180* it should fire right up. You may have an issue getting the distributor to drop into place with oil pump drive. Get it where it belongs and if it doesn't want to go all the way down slightly turn the crank until it goes in.
