Thanks Patt! The jy i went to had another intake that wasn't egr equipped, what if I installed a non-egr intake on my egr motor and plugged the hole on the exhaust manifold of the even cylinder side (the exhaust manifold of the odd cylinder side doesn't have an egr port).

You may or may not get an EGR code.... that's about it.

So I could put an intake from a 98'-01' on and it would have the same vac fittings and placements?

There are some differences..... No egr on 96 (maybe) and up. No center divider on 98 and up, also, only one port for temp sensor on 98 and up. There are also various counts of vacuum ports thru the years, but, on mine, I have extra ports, that are just capped.

I have a 98 5.9 V8 which isn't an EGR equip type, but the 98 diesel is. My intake manifole has a port for a ECT sensor (I ordered one yesterday) as well as an IAT (air intake temp) sensor port. Like 'HeyYou' stated your PCM will push an EGR code..at the very least...

my ECT is next to the thermostat housing an 'protrudes' into the water jacket. The IM air temp sensor is installed in the IM with the sensor element 'extending' into the air stream

You need both temp sensor ports on a 97 and older, as HeyYou stated. Other wise the PCM and temp gauge wont work correctly.

Reguarding the plenum replacement procedure: Will pre-soaking the IM bolts prior to removal with some mopar rust penetrant or an equivalent actually get down in there and do its thing..so there's less of a possibility of bolt snappage?
