I had three other people , a motorcycle lift and 2 regular jacks for help. LOL I know one thing, you should have atleast some tape on the brass fittings and anything else thats open, to keep any crap from getting into them.

That was exactly how I lifted mine up high enough to get the jack under it...guess great minds think alike...=P Hopefully we get our rigs back on the road this weekend. I imagine you've probably got it bolted up front and sitting in the frame? Keep on truckin' man...

Well, with a pulled hamstring, and no one around since I took off work today, I found another way to get this into place.....

Got it put in, everythnig hooked up, and roller it off the ramps. Checked fluid and I did not have enough. According to the manual, it takes 19 to 20 quarts. Made a 10:00 run to Wally World, and they are out of ATF 4. So the truck is halfay out of the garage unhtil I can get to Autozone tomorrow.

It will move forward and in reverse. Starts only in Park and Neutral. Everything feels good. Will find out if it shofts proerly tomorrow!

Noticed whinig sound when I shut engine off. Power steering pump is howling. Gerabox leaks, but I did not know it was that bad. This moves up on the project list. Start on it tomorrow.

Put 15 quarts of ATF+4 in. Manual says 19 to 20 on rebuild. I assume this is to fill TC. Have no 1st and no 3rd gear. 2500 rpm at 45-50 mph.

Only thing I dod not do was to repalce solenoids or pressure sendor. Cleaned well, and checked out OK electrically. Probably should have changed them anyway.

If bands are out of adjustment, are they too loose or too tight?

Thanks.

If you have a scanner you can plug into it, check and see what the PCM thinks governor pressure is doing.

I'll go check that. I did not think of that. What should it be if it is working? Will the scanner give me the pressure that it is reading?

Don't think so...it'll probably just spit a code if its insufficient.

The FSM will tell you the pressures at certain speeds.

Thata does it. I'm ordering a SCT or Superchips scanner this week. Mine will read some PIDs but not what I need. It is to gerneric. Until today, all I needed it for was to retrieve codes on various vehicles.

After driving more, I really think I have only a 2-3 shift. What I though was 1st gear really doesn't feel like first. Whein running around 30 mph, with OD off, I tried to shift into 1st and nothing happened.

15 quarts was a little too much. I have fluid coming out of the vent at the pump plate. Manual says 19 to 20, but it didn't take that much.

Power steering gearbox and pump moved up in project list due to leaks and howling pump. If it's not one thing.........

Check your fluid level again as well.
