continue to post here. its your thread. don't start another one.

you don't normally put any rtv on the side gaskets, but a very thin layer would be ok. i put a light coat on the front and rear rubber pieces, and a generous dab in all 4 corners.

since i'm lazy as hell, if i was in your position, before redoing it all, i'd invest in a can of brake cleaner and a tube of RTV. i'd spray and wipe the rear area where its leaking, let it dry, then smear a large, generous, bead of rtv across the entire back seam of the intake. let it dry 24 hours and see if it fixes it. i'd make 2 passes on seam. one to fill the seam, and then another top coat over the whole thing.

the worst that can happen is it doesn't work, you waste 24 hours and $9.
it might work...

I put a little RTV around the coolant ports, (both sides) and a dab in the corners where the gaskets meet the end gaskets.

Buy new gaskets. Make sure the holes in the block where the 'prongs' on the end seals go are clear.

I only put RTV in the corners where the gaskets meet. I believe that is what my Haynes manual said to do. Looks like others have used it on the gaskets. If you use it on the gaskets, might want to let the RTV set a while before starting the engine. Hate to hear you have to go back in there. I hate re-doing stuff. At least you'll know how everything comes apart/goes back together. You'll be the grand master plenum wizard from hell.

I didn't, I cleaned up both surfaces really good on both the upper and lower intake manifold and set the gaskets in place and only put RTV in the spots where the gaskets came together near the corners, there was maybe a quarter inch gap or less in each spot. I didn't put RTV on the gaskets themselves at all, they don't need it and it will cause the intake manifold to not sit down evenly on the lower manifold. This could be why you now have an oil leak... ???? So the two small pieces of thin gasket that go across the top and bottom of the intake manifold, just where those meet up with the other manifold gaskets, that is the only place where RTV is necessary.

As HeyYou stated, put a small amount (very thin) with your finger around the coolant ports only. Set the intake. And torque it down a few times. By the time you are done putting the rest back together, the rtv will be plenty dry.

Don't think it matters.... the PCM is still going to command the solenoid open.... I don't know if it pays attention to whether it actually does anything electrically or not..... If you decide to just pull it outta there.... hang on to it for a while... just in case.
