I got my new rim in. One of the great things about these are that since they were used I won't have to go thru that crying phase the first time I rub them against some rocks.
The rims came with Rapid Air valves for dropping the air pressure quickly and also to refill quicker.
They also came with wheel spacers that I might end up using to move the tires away from the frame & control arms. These rims already only have 3.5" backspacing so I might not need the spacers but it's nice to have them if needed.
Working on the Jeep and I needed to install taller shock towers so that I can run a 12" travel shock. A buddy who has a plasma table had designed his own towers and made me a pair.
They are some great looking shock towers.
How the shock towers will sit on the Jeep.
Since the 6 pack intake didn't have all the vacuum ports that I needed I ordered a vacuum port tree from HiPoTek.
I dropped the engine into the frame today to have a look at clearance of the trackbar & drag link with the crank pulley. Also wanted to see how it all was going to sit in place and what it'd look like.
Loads of fun doing this by myself but I got it in there after some grunting and swearing.
Now the GOOD news is that there isn't any issues with the trackbar or drag link coming even close to the lower crank pulley. The not so good news is that because I'd moved the spring buckets & shock towers the York compressor comes VERY VERY close to the passenger side shock tower.
As you can see there isn't any clearance issues with the engine.
Axle and oil pan not a problem.
Upper link for the Savvy mid arm kit clears everything.
The York is another subject. I'll bevel the bottom of the York a little to make a little more room between it and the shock tower. If it becasue a real problem I might notch the shock tower a little.
Will the engine be able to torque itself over and make contact though??
Well since it's rotating clockwise it'll torque more to the drivers side right? Like I said I need to clearance the bottom edge of York. And I might cut a small relief into the shock tower also.
Spinning clockwise facing the engine right? In that case, the engine will indeed wanna move that direction when you put a load on it..... I think some additional clearance there, however you wanna go about it, would be a good idea.

I've got to play with it a little more. The other option is to cut the tack welds and lean the tower out a little more but I don't really like that option because then I get into the possibility of the tires rubbing on them.
I need to see if I can push the engine over to the drivers side anymore or now also.
After looking at this more today and talking with the person who made these shock towers it's been decided that I can notch the tower just a little and shouldn't hurt anything. So I'll pull the engine back out and trim the towers and once I do decide if I was to try and box it in. So I'll cut out the area between the to makings.
Looking at the tower from the engine side.
This area right where the shock tabs are will go away.
It's only the very bottom and most of the force is on the top.
And then looking at it from the front of the tower you can see the bottom of the York.
Things always take longer than you think they will. I'd thought I'd notch the shock tower and be done with it just like that. But it took a lot longer than I'd figured. But it's notched and I clearance the bottom of the York also. Now I need to set the engine back in the frame and see if I took out enough. I need to do that before I try to box in the area I notched. But I did get a tab made to set back in the notch.
