Default Found a replacement engine

So I found an entire replacement engine in my old home town! $850! Gonna have to fly down and put it on my buddies boat! Thank god for frequent flyer miles!!!

We might just salvage this heap of metal afterall!?!?

Is it imperative that I find an engine with the same options? IE, at trans, cruise control, AC, 4wd? Just a thought? One reason I ask? I see a number on the driverside valve cover. It's 4 something 8. My valve cover says 449. I read somewhere these heads have two size rocker arm bolts? 3/8 or 5/16. Wonder if that's the difference in the valve cover number?

This engine I found. Two guys bought the truck together. One wanted the body and chassis. The other guy wants the transmission.

It almost seems to good to be true?

Can you hear it run?

You should be able to transfer all the external accessories from your original engine to the new one. I don't think the engines changed much, if at all, over the years. The electronics sure did though.

Yes! It's still in the truck. So bare minimum we can fire it up. He said no insurance on the truck. But my insurance will cover me to drive it. So I just gotta figure out when my buddies boat is coming up?

120,000 original miles on it. Looks clean like my engine. Hopefully it's in as good of condition as they said it is? Gonna have my brother go check it out!

Sounds like this donor truck has an NV4500 MANUAL TRANSMISSION? Will this change anything in the wiring harness or give me any other hidden issues?

Nope. Engine harness will be exactly the same. You will have to knock out the pilot bearing/bushing though. (not sure which it will have.... may be two-piece.)

Roger that! The guy is keeping the flywheel, the starter and the A/C pump. I might change that rear main seal while it's opened up? I know mine has been leaking for years!

Insurance follows the vehicle not the person from my understanding. Pull a valve cover and see how clean it is.
