Gently. I used a garden hose on my 96 truck. I *really* need to do it on my current truck as well, as the heat just sucks....... I think it is even mislabeling it calling it 'heat'.... More like, '**** warm'....... if it gets that hot. And on the sub-zero days we occasionally get, that REALLY sucks. Supposed to be nice out tomorrow. Maybe I will poke at it.

And only if you DON'T put it on High speed fan. If I do, I might just as well roll down the window. Its about the same effect.

Mine is the same I think I either have air in the system, need to back flush the core, or the 180 stat is to cold

If there is an air pocket, heat transfer will be really inefficient. Which I suspect is what we are experiencing. I already changed my thermostat, and the engine does indeed get up to temp, but, the heater isn't nearly as effective as I would like. On a long trip, it will eventually start blowing really hot air, but, if it sits and cools, it's another good distance before it starts working the way I think it should. I believe the heater core is the highest point in the cooling system though, and that makes it kinda difficult to get all the air out.....

See I tried to fill the heater core but didn't have spare hose to make it long enough. My problem is it blows warm when sitting and warmer when moving but never hot. I thought it might have been the 180° stat. My gauge get a little about the 130 mark
