Its a standalone computer.

It is abe to completely take over fuel and igntion. Plus its ready to correct fuel for nitros applications.

Does anybody know if the ignition module on these trucks is external or built-in to the ECU?

They don't have separate module. It's just the coil pack and the PCM.

I figured it would be the most expensive scenario..

I guess an mds ignition module is in order.

I believe some coils have the ignitor built-in to them. May want to do some more research.

Dude, the oiling issue is old news,solved with an adjustable oil restrictor
