No I have the same motor and year as you and I had a cortex for a month before I sold it for 100 more than I paid for it.

Now the 3865 I have right now and it works just as well as the cortex did for me.

Hope you can get it figured out.

Well what year do you have? Because right now they are comparable, but once the new transmission stuff comes out they will be worlds apart.

The reason I asked about the year of your truck because the 02-04 aren't going to get the tranny updates. So there is no point in paying a ton extra for a tuner that will do nothing for you.

The going price is 185-195 for the 3815.

Let us know what you decide to do.

Thanks OE. My truck is an 07' 5.7L. I guess I should ask about the tranny updates you're talking about. Are you saying that the 3815 won't be able to accept them or that the 02-04's won't be able to get them from the 3815, but my truck will? |The lame trans action on all new vehicles has been very annoying to me for many years now. I definitely want to get the one that will give me some control over what my trans is doing.

The guy wants $250 for it, but I already figured he was smokin something. Was able to find the 3865 online new for just under $300 shipped. Thanks for the going rate tho. May convince him to come down on it.

Actually both of what you said is true. The 3815 will not be able to handle the new updates.

And the 02-04's will not be supported by the new SC Transmission control. So if you had one of those 3 years then its a no brainer to ****** that up.

But for you it would be a waste of your time and money to pick one up.

So yes search and find yourself a good deal on a 3865 or a cortex.

no pretty sure the 04s will have the trans control.Teach is even running it in beta on his cortex right now. Reason the 03 and older trucks wont have it is because of the separate PCM and TCM controls.

Simple answer, buy an used unlocked Flashpaq 3865 or Cortex 3950 for $250 or less to use on your truck.

The 04's will get all of the trans controls. I am currently running the tuning in beta form on my 04.

I thought 04 weren't getting the same stuff for some reason. Maybe that was another tuner

Thanks everyone. I am definitely gonna hold out for the 3865 then. Haven't started any mods yet, but it's nice to know where to get good info before I do.
