This was designed for use with trucks with PTO (Power Take Off) and will not "keep" the setting after setting it. If you put your truck into Drive, it will immediately revert to the default idle set point.

Default cortex 3950

I have the opportunity to buy a cortex 3950 NIB at a really good price. I get conflicting info on compatibility.

Will it work on a 2003 dodge ram 1500 with a 4.7?

Yes sir, The 3865 covers the 4.7L all the way back to 2000.

FYI, If anyone needs to verify application info we offer a great resource on our website for your convenience.

While I was figuring out the wiring in my 2001 Dakota during the 5.7 liter Hemi transplant, I discovered an Orange wire..It wasn't connected to anything so I looked it up..It was the PTO {power take off} wire .I didn't hook it up..
I know what a PTO is on a tractor, But will someone please tell me what a PTO is on a Dodge Ram ? And will it make a differance of I connect it to something ?

I used the website, it was part of my concern, for the 2003 it would not "compare" with the 3950 and there was something else that looked strange. The 2003 was the only year it did this on so I was concerned.

You are correct though, the website is great. One of your co-workers emailed me and said the serial number needs to be above 1500000 to be sure it would work.

I'm really confused at this point. I can buy the cortex for 150 NIB.

Just for future reference, both the 3950 and 3865 cover the 03 no matter the tuner SN range. It’s just a software upgrade if not already included.

Enjoy your tuner and let me know if I can be of any assistance.

aarrgghh well my ebay purchase fell through! At least the guy tested it before shipping. All of this used Cortex/3815 thing was bad karma!

I just ordered a brand spanking new 3865 from AutoAnything. Now I'm salivating, my guess is I wont get it even with the overnight shipping until after thanksgiving. Good things come to those who wait I guess.

Thanks Scott!
