Hey guys, I'm about to buy a chip. It's my first time tuning, EVER. I'm thinking a superchip 3865 is good enough, any reason to get another brand? I have a 2008 Dodge Ram Hemi 1500, no exhaust or CAI... yet.

 

Oops, didn't realize I was on the diablo thread. Well, any reason I should get a diablo over a superchip?

 

I have had good luck with Diablosport on 2 different trucks now..

 

I think I'll go with the superchip for now. I'm sure one day I'll try a diablo too.

 

Not a problem. That is where I started and adjusted it slighty from there. I love the way it shifts now with the combo im running. Eventually I want to get a custom schedule made for it so the WOT shift is a little hover. Right now it will.only go up to 6200rpm and I want it go up to around 6500rpm WOT 1-2 and 2-3 shift to take advantage of of the cam.

 

Ok 05 guys anyone mess with the tune on a 04. Just blew a motor yeah I messed up retarded the engine too much and didn't lower my fuel as it was already set too high. Oh yeah I installed a 268XFI Comp Cam. Diablo Sport tuner.Anyway already got another engine for it going back in this weekend I hope, with the cam upgrade.

 

The 268 Requires more tuning that what you can do with the DSP on its own. All the tuner does on its own is WOT fuel and spark. You need a custom tune file that adds timing/fuel etc. at all throttle possistions otherwise, with that cam, you blow the thing again

 

Agreed. Custom tuning FTW with a 268. Im selling my 210, PCM and custom tuning for it if you are interested.

 

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram QC 4x4 4.7l. Is it better to go with the SC or the DSP Trinity? Or are there better options out there.....
