Got *HID* Problems? Check in here...
I don't really have the time right now to look through the thread so I'm gonna go ahead and just explain and ask. I bought 2 resistors and installed the hid kit with just 2 resistors on the driver side but only needed it for the low beam so I insalled them both there to help reduce the heat. Anyways it worked for about 8-10 months like that until they went out, not sure if its resistors, ballasts or bulbs but I remember it was a pain the first time around getting everything to work so my question is, does anyone make a drop in plug and play kit yet??
I had hids but at the time didnt know you had to install resistors to them so they burnt out in about 3 months. What kit should I buy I wanna try it again and what all do I need? What kits are you guys using? My last kit was just low beans and I believe I paid like 150 bucks so I dont really want to do that again just in case it doesnt work or they burn out again. Id like to get HI/LO and fogs. Do I need the anti flicker things too plus the resistors? I believe I bought my last ones from buyinghids.com but I cant remember for sure. I had 8000k and I think I want that again its had a nice blue tint to them Thanks
First off, this is a great thread. I read every post and created my resistors per Weeds instructions. My problem still persists. I have the HIDextra bixenon 6k bulbs with the relay. I have an intermittant problem of the passenger light not comming back on after stopping at the store for few minutes. I have the superchips and get the low beam high resistance code both right and left lights. I made the and installed the resistors per the instructions in the thread and I am still having the problem. I felt the resistor and it is getting hot to touch so power is getting to the lights. Any input would be appreciated. My vehical is a 06 Dakota QC.
First things first, put the OEM halogen bulbs back in and see if they work. If they do, the the headlight circuits are fine and it's an HID issue. If the halogen bulbs do not work, then there is an issue with the wiring, fuse or TIPM
Looked through and can't find anyone else with my problem so here goes. Got a 2004 2500 that I put bids in. Had resistors and all that and they came on. The problem is they stuck on high beam. Switched bulbs and ballasts and relay with my buddies kit and still didn't switch off high beam. The only time it'll switch to low beam is if you flip to high and flip back to low and hold the switch. Let go and they kick back up. It's a vvme 35w 6000k kit
Sounds like something is wrong with your wiring or how you are wiring it. If your buddy has the same model truck and using the same kit and it works fine then there is no reason why it wouldn't work fine on yours.
I have been racking my brain for months (literally). I have installed and taken off the bi-xenon HID kit I bought off ebay about 4 times on my Durango. I have searched the HID thread with no one having my issue. Here is the problem, I am a mechanic by trade and I know my way around a vehicle. That being said, after everytime I install the HID kit and start the truck and turn on the lights, everything is fine. Its when I go to turn off the lights the problem starts. First when I switch the headlight switch off the HID's stay on. I have tried reinstalling the kit using the other headlight harness (i.e. harness plugged into the driverside headlight harness I would switch to the passenger side headlight harness) with no avail. I have thought it might be the DRL but I cannot find the module that controls the DRL and the Dodge dealership doesn't know what the hell I am talking about when I asked if they could use their starscan to turn off the DRL if I have the module. I know that DRL is a must in Canada but I live in the US so no worries there. The other thought I had was that it was a ground but that thought was quickly fixed. I have searched high and low to find an answer to my problem and I even had the company that I bought the kit from send me another relay with harness because I thought that I had received a faulty harness. Please help I am to the point of just saying F**k it. Oh and by the way I installed HID's for my fogs and there is no issue there.
