Well the new and improved (according to engineers) seat covers came in last week so I took my truck to the dealer this morning. They should be done tomorrow so we'll see.

I also have a question. Whenever I've brought a new vehicle in for warranty work in the past I was always furnished with a free rental. This dealer refuses to give a rental for the couple of days they keep it for seat installations. They finally said that my extended max care warranty covered a rental but I had to pay the $100 deductible. I figured the warranty covered a rental if work is done on the truck. Has anyone else had to pay for their rental? Its not my fault the truck has problems, they should be paying me for the time I don't have the truck

I have this issue and it is getting really bad after 12000 km. There is even tearing happening across about 5 perforations, and you can feel a soft line running along where it is tearing like the material is thinner there. Just for reference, the material does look like leather on the underside, very cheap thin leather......

Great thread except for the fact that the more I read the more pi$$ed off I get. My seat, as with thousands of others, shows excessive wear (10,000 miles). Have not approached my dealer about getting it swapped....yet. It also shows wear in the form of discoloration from my belt / jeans / whatever about where my waist is. I have owned quite a few vehicles, from Ford, GMC, Chevy with leather seats and this is the FIRST time I have EVER experienced this. I DO NOT believe the seats are leather AT ALL! The only part of the seat that might be leather is the perforated center portion, the outsides are NOT leather.
The thing that REALLY gets me is the fact that my truck stickered at $52,500, yes for a freakin' truck. For that the "quality" should be above average. For that I get plastic rims (which I did not know until after purchase), 80% vinyl seats, annoying chrome trim around shifter and excessive "leather" seat wear. Compared with the Sierra Denali / Ford F150 Platinum which has 80% leather seating, cast wheels and no blinding chrome trim, all at about the same cost. Is it just the Hemi they are charging for???? lol
If it weren't for the superior ride, HEMI power, the Ram Box (which has its issues) and the interior design / room (minus seating problems) I would drive it off a cliff in a heart beat......but there are no cliffs in Iowa!!
I will be calling my dealer tomorrow, guarenteed!!!!

Got my truck back today with the new improved seats. Same ol thing, they're already starting to wrinkle, and still have hard plastic sticking through. Doesn't bother me now though. After the DM sees how the "improved" seats look on the next visit I will be rid of these junk seats.

BTW I wasn't charged for the rental, they said they made a mistake telling me I had to pay a deductible

The truck on the lot that I test drove had the same issue with the drivers seat. There will be no denying that there is a problem. This truck had less than 100 miles on it.

They will need to work with their supplier and come up with a replacement material.

We should all just have our concerns written up before you hit 12/12.
A less than 100 miles on it ??????????!!!!!!!O Dodge,Dodge!!!What happen to you!!? Like guy before said that why he like more his Toyota, and why he don't like to buy a Dodge, simple answer - quality ! Man,why you even look at this truck???

You right, truck should be a truck, good towing, payload and etc.I was drive a 2006 Ford F-350 and never, believe me,guys, never have a problems like I see on Dodge trucks.Don't let me wrong, every truck has A some problems, one more one less, but except engine problems (no trucks perfect) here is (Dodge) a lot of another problems...I hear so many times from Dodge guys, that they will go better with Ford.

Then go buy one, loose the cummins3500 and find out that they have issue too, just the same for 1st model year, all of them. I have owned 3 dodge rams and one grand caravan, So far the only issue I have is the seat out of all the vehicles, I would say that is pretty good.

If the material doesn't wrinkle then it tears at the perforations in the "vented areas". I've had my seat cover on backorder for a month now and no news...

I'm going back to a GM product - much better of a quality truck in my opinon.
(I know I'm gonna get flamed for that comment).
