I replaced the power steering pump and new hoses. Also rebuilt the vacuum pump with a Kit from Geno's Garage. I also replaced the AC compressor Dryer and high Pressure line.

Filled it up with gas and figured out after changing my timing chain I averaged a full MPG better this tank of gas over the same roads on my commute as the past year. For some reason 12.6 seems so much better than 11.6
Now if I want to feel better I can factor in the uncalibrated odometer with the larger tires and the ethanol that wasn’t in the gas in 97 and it really isn’t much worse now than it was new.

It's in the shop getting a bunch of steering components and a ball joint replaced so it can be properly aligned and stop eating tires. Oh yeah - it's getting those too. There goes this paycheck...
Yeah - I could do most of the parts replacement myself, but 1 ton suspension parts beat the crap out of me anymore.

Truck came home yesterday with new rubber and an alignment. It only took a new pitman arm, idler arm, tie rod, and steering stabilizer to get there. Funny, between the tires and alignment I never realized just how bad our local roads have become. Sheesh...
Missouri's problem is that they have some of the lowest fuel taxes in the country so they don't generate enough money to properly maintain the roads & bridges. The roads that get the most attention are usually the ones that are around the major metropolitan areas so us country bumpkins just have to make do.
I drove some of the roads in southern Michigan years ago and you are quite correct. Between the winter rust and the potholes, I was surprised there wasn't more than random mufflers and tailpipes hanging around at the side of the road.

If the raise the fuel tax, they'll **** it away and still not fix the roads. Then they'll raise the tax again, over and over.
