I have a feeling cat and O2 sensors are in the near future as well, and I KNOW a new heater core is in the near future.
Just make sure you replace the gasket before replacing the O2 sensors and cat.
All the excess oil you’re burning right now with a blown gasket will roast your new O2 and cat in short order.
Should have known better than anything I ordered arriving on time with Black Friday and cyber Monday shipping hitting the carriers this week. Looks like I’ll be without this truck for a while longer. Doesn’t look like anything will be in until tomorrow night possibly and the tune-up parts not until at least Monday next week.

I know I ordered my Plenum plate from eBay as it was cheaper than Hughes and it arrived within 2 days during black friday.

they had the plate out the door on Monday, it was usps who dropped the ball. After pricing fasteners all the way around and gasket set then the shipping for things other than the fasteners I just decided for simplicity To go with Hughes. The Hughes felpro kit, best I understand is felpro TTY fasteners as well. After using felpro vs other brands for ford small block intakes in the past I like the felpro gaskets. They go in easy, don’t slip around and come off clean if you ever have to re do the job. Really nice when using them with FSB head gaskets. I know they cost more money but when there is peace of mind in the gaskets as well as meticulous cleaning and work to install, it just makes me feel better at the end of the repair.
But on a good note it does appear my plenum plate made it to my regional Distribution center this afternoon which means a good chance it will be here tomorrow after all!

I always use Fel-Pro because as you said they are good quality
Well it appears this has been re done before but definitely blown out again #3 bolt from left on bottom was loose as well.
new pan on and torqued
unfortunately I broke one bolt getting it out.
soaking in pb blaster.
time to make supper get back at it later
well 13:00!hrs it is finally out between torch Kroil and lots of wiggling and finally hammering the vise grips down beside it to get a bite I started on it at 09:00 this morning

Back together again and WOW even just running it to burp the coolant! What a difference. Thanks for all the info in this thread guys. Only thing bugging me is how loud the air box is now. Forgot to hook the vac line back up after disconnecting it again to set the upper radiator hose.
I could not even THINK of getting the timing chain on with the tensioner.
All done and burping!
Will have to do tune up this weekend.
plugs done very quickly this morning NGK zfr5f11 @.040” idle seems much better. Seems the pinging at +2k is gone! Still have to do cap and rotor Saturday
all plugs had ash on them and about .065” gap from erosion.

Alright full tuneup done running injector cleaner through it right now. Running great. Waiting on Napa to get my drain plug for trans and a re-usable style trans pan gasket and then all maintenance should be complete for a while except when I get to doing the heater core.

Long time viewer, first time poster here and it looks like I get to bring this forum into 2021! So far this forum has been nothing but a huge help for me in keeping my rig alive. Today I feel I have confirmed my suspicions of a blown plenum gasket when I went to check the oil and it was just below the safe zone, and the oil is still clean, maybe 1000 miles at most. No smoke, only sluggish (although I feel the lift, tire size, final drive ratio etc. all contribute to this as well), and loud. I'm imagining the cat is clogged as well, and will need an O2 sensor (sensors?) and plugs - all of which I was planning on in a soon to come TLC package for the truck. I'd like to take this on myself and save on the ungodly amount in labor I'm sure it would come to due to hours. I'm looking forward to reading more on this thread to help in the process if I take it on myself.

If your truck has north of 100K miles on it, do the timing set when you do the plenum. It's six more bolts, and a gasket..... (double roller timing set please, skip the morse-style stock replacement.)
It's really not a bad job. I work slow, but, plenum and timing set take me around 15 hours. So, figure a good weekend worth of work. Need an inch-pound torque wrench though, and those seem to be fun to find. Check with your local parts stores, and see if they will rent you one.
The intake bolts on the four corners of the manifold like to break, so, be careful with them. If you DO break one, vice grips, a hammer, and some chems will get 'em out.
Ouch! lol look at the fuel rail inlet port hahaha.
To make life easier, I highly recommend removing the fan and shroud as the pioneers who have done it before me recommended. That extra 10 minutes of work to pull is worth it imho... actually, i wouldn't do it any other way. Undo the fan from the clutch, and there are four 10mm? bolts that hold the shroud on. Remove the overflow hose from the radiator, and remove the washer fluid hose and electrical connector. It did take me a while to figure out how to get the fan off without the tool. put two bolts in the pulley (existing holes there) and used my breaker bar resting on the frame to give that little bit of tension. Used an adjustable wrench and twisted it loose. Once that is done, pull the whole thing out as an assembly with the bottles attached.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to drain some out of the radiator (twist port at bottom).
The right way to do it would be to drain the block, but i'll admit I did not do the block. I only got a little coolant into the valley. I vaccumed most of it out, and changed my oil when done. Ran it through for a while with the new oil change, and re changed it again.
I saw you removed the fuel rail bolts, and removed the cables from the TB bracket. I did not remove either. I unbolted the bracket from the TB and pushed it too the side. But hey! your welcome to do it any way that works for you. I also did not remove the alternator from the acessory bracket, I just pulled the bracket (with two alternator bolts attached).
Also you mentioned that the intake gaskets looked good and hinted at being able to not replace them. Lol, replace them every time.
plenum so I no were dodge people but i had a tahoe and we ran 20 50 motor oil due to bad cam bearings we only ran it a month and got rid of it but we also did plenum soo yea
