End-all Be-all plenum thread
I looked for that thread, didn't see it..I look some more later..if not maybe I'll start a new one with the pics and step by step DIY..then toss in links like the one with 'all the parts you'll need' that's already posted...unless this is already been done and is complete with a easily searchable thread name..I think I would have to check with Hey You 1st tho...It would take some time but that's the least I could do to give back to DF

Here ya go:

I checked visually for oil pooling and there is only a very light film on mine. I also checked with a magnet and it is the steel plate. So I guess my gaskets are holding. Can I change my computer back to where its supposed to be now and get more power?
I thought that they "re flashed " the computers to retard the timing at the dealer when they learned of a potential plenum/vacuum leak. No?
You probably have the death flash, just look for the 'authorized software update' sticker on the PCM, to 'fix' that, you would need to buy a tuner.... The dealer isn't going to revert the tune that's on there now...... certainly not for free.
Hemifever is acknowledged here as pretty much the best tuners for our trucks. Have a chat with him. 265 gets you everything you need for a stock truck. (or, with just bolt-ons.)

Thanks for the direction. I will contact him.
I did the plenum repair about 200 miles ago..Now I have to do a head gasket..I know the IM & cylinder bolts are TTY..But do I really need to replace the IM bolts or can I get away using them again?? Thanks...Patt
There is a fair bit of debate on whether the IM bolts are TTY or not..... FSM doesn't mention anything at all about having to replace them. Fair few folks have reused the original IM bolts when they did the plenum......
Thanks HeyYou! My SM does suggest replacement & states they're TTY but I'm thinking they would be ok to reuse because they're so new. On the other hand at $22 dollars maybe it's not worth the headache to chance it. Thanks as always for your imput and advise! Enjoy your weekend!!

Get them from the dealer much cheaper.
