Actually, that really isn't a bad place for it. If you can make it work reliably, go for it. (keep in mind, that the signal grounds thru the sensor, so, the senor MUST have a ground.)

As I have pulled the drain about four times today....I double checked it. It is actually a 1/4" pipe plug. It just looks bigger because it has a 9/16" head on it and it is longer. (doing a marathin coolant flush weekend...)

i realized that, and wired it to the suspension frame. it looked ridiculous, but it worked. then it quit working cuz the sensor broke. lol its ok, there's already a coupling for the heater hose right there. i'm just gonna take it apart and find another long coupling with a hole in it that i can put in there. either that, or make my own and tap it lol.

was curious though, does the heater hose on the passenger side, the one i plan on tapping into, does that get constant fluid flow?

not sure if it's constant or just when the stat is open, sorry..def post them pics tho...did you do an oil change before you got er running? When I did my plenum, I didn't have a drop of antifreeze in the valley! No idea how I didn't....my IM gaskets were all f---ed up! But I changed the oil after the job was done, before I started it up and there was a butt load of af mixed in??? strange..

It draws coolant from "below" that stat, so, you always have coolant flowing there, as long as the engine is running. That's the main reason I like that location. It will give a fairly accurate picture of engine temp.

i just didnt know if it would be constant fluid flow, or just static when the heater was off. if its constant, then it'll be perfect because it comes right out of the manifold and should basically get a damn near perfect reading.

and patt, yes, i'm changing the oil lol i can finally put some AMSOIL in it now that i'm not burning it all lol
