I've got to talk with Ryan from FRP and see what he thinks about how rich it's running. He may still want to wait to do anything with the tunes until I can drive it and he can get some better data logging. I'm not sure.

Checked the valve to make sure it wasn't stuck in the head.

Not sure why that rocker arm broke. Could have been assembly error or something wrong with the rocker. Doubt I'll ever know for sure.

The custom horn button I'd ordered arrived yesterday. Only good thing to happen.

I asked about t the broken rocker arm on the Magnum V-8 group I belong to on FaceBook and boy did I get a ear full. Seems there were more than a few who'd had negative experiences with Scorpion rocker arms. The general consciences was that I'd cheaped out on my valvetrain by going with Scorpion over other brands. And the main complaint was because the Scorpion rocker arms are a cast aluminum. It was felt that if I wanted an aluminum rocker that I should be using Harland Sharp since they are a billet design. The better option was a stainless steel or steel rocker arm from everyone's opinion in this group.

I did have ONE individual who insisted that the failure was due to the rocker being loose and the push rod coming out of the cup. Or that one push rod was not oiling properly. When I disagreed with him there were butthurt feelings... He was trying to claim that the lack of oil in the polylock showed a lack of oiling. When I tried to explain the possibility of why there wasn't oil there he just ignored me.

So based on all this dislike I decided to get some Comp XB steel rockers.

A lot of difference between the XB on the left & Scorpion on the right.

Just sitting in the engine. I've got to figure out how to adjust them with the intake manifold installed.

Then I pulled the Scorpion off the passenger side also.

I'd soaked the rockers overnight in oil per Comp's instructions.

Anyone got any good ideas on how to set valve lash with the intake installed? Not a lot of room to grab & spin the push rods.

Do the chevy method, and adjust them with the engine running? Can be messy though..... I have a set of valve covers I cut the tops out of, to make it a bit easier. (on chevys....)

Definitely not right. That may have been the start of the broken rocker. I wonder if the roller on lifter froze and wiped the lobe out? Either way I'm sorry to see that Rick.

Did the pushrod just slip off the lifter?

You called it. Push rod got caught between the lifter and the block & it broke the edge off the lifter.

The cam looks to be OK.

The lobe looks fine and I couldn't find anything that made me worry.

I stopped yesterday after I found the push rod and lifter so I haven't had a chance to do any looking. I did drain the oil and planned on changing the filter also. So if I've got any metal from either the broken rocker arm or the lifter hopefully it's either in the drain pan or in the filter.
Not really much of anything else I can do unless I disassembled the whole engine.

I might be tempted to leave the drain plug out, filter the stuff in the pan, and pour it thru the engine again..... Probably won't make a difference though. Not sure you could get enough flow velocity for it to pick up the little bits of metal, and flush 'em out....
