Well I hate to say it but it is looking like I am not going to get this done this year. This damn divorce is still not over with and I am getting calls from creditors and collection companies because the ex isn't paying her bills. So all my extra cash is going to have to be saved just in case I have to pay stuff. I hate this crap!!!

As soon as I am able to take the engine to the machine shop and get the work done I'll start posting here again. I'll be around just not posting in this thread.

Thanks for the advice but because both our names are on the accounts they can still come after me. Yes she is responsible but if she isn't paying they will try to collect from anyone they can.

Keep your credit card statements, starting at least from when you separated. That way, if she tries to charge up the card, and then stick you with the bill, you will have ammunition in court... Also might consider calling 'em up, and putting a 'hold' on the accounts, so the cards simply stop working.....

Well as of 28 Jan 2016 my divorce is finally over with.

So it has been a slow winter and at this point I am just waiting for the snow to melt so I can start working on the engine again. So I was told about this throttle body on another forum. It was a great deal they are selling for only $200 on Ebay.

1200 CFM? Isn't that just a bit of overkill, even for a 408?

If I had to guess, that's a maximum, and looking at the barrels, I think that's an overestimation. The benefit of TBs, the computer, fuel, and blades control the CFM.

It might be capable of the advertised CFM, but wouldn't the computer control the flow of air and fuel to deliver what's required?

Computer has no control at all over air, except at idle. It compensates for the amount of air by controlling fuel flow.

By my math, even at 100% volumetric efficiency, at 5500 RPM, the motor is still only moving about 708 cfm of air......

By my reckoning 1200CFM is just about right for the range 500-545HP if the big ugly thing beneath it can make that.
