I'm not sure if it applies to replacement pumps for our trucks, but finding a good replacement pump for some makes is nearly impossible to find. I went through 3 or 4 pumps on an 87 F 150 before I finally gave up and just put up with the noise.

It's time to put tires on the beast again...

Put new Goodyear Wranglers on, and a couple days ago I replaced the leaf spring U-bolts/perch sets on both sides. I was under the truck a couple weeks ago and found one of the bolts snapped from being rusted out. The other looked like they were close behind.

I had a 92 astro that the plates the ubolts went thru rusted out, and broke..... so the axle was free to move around as it desired. It was interesting getting it home like that. 5-10mph for about 3 miles...... Replace the plates (dealer had them on the shelf.... oddly enough) and drove the van for several more years. Finally traded it off early this year, with 300,000 miles on it. Still ran good, but, the body was falling off.

Oh, and washed it. Then promptly drove on a muddy road looking at Christmas trees.

Cool, 1999 posts from my 1999 Ram.

That sounds like fun. After I saw mine broken I stayed off the highway till the new ones came in and got put on. Too many potholes on the highway around here.

Reminds me of a Jeep I encountered a few times on the road last winter. The front axle was so free that when it death wobbled the front tires would come clean out of the fender. I didn't want to pass him, but I also didn't want to be behind him when the inevitable happened.

Looks like I'm going to be changing out the neutral safety/back-up light switch this weekend. They've become intermittent and backing up a dually in the dark isn't much fun.
