I always did 1 coat etch primer, as many coats as filler primer to get the block smooth (my OCD lol), 3-4 of the base coat, and then finally 3-4 of clear sanding the final two coats
Okay I am no body & paint guy so you'll have to help me out here.
Why do you sand the last two coats of clear? What grit? How do you get into all the nocks & crannies? I did 3 coats of the self etching primer & 3 coats of the orange. I've got 2 coats of the clear right now.

Just to get the best finish as possible. It's just my OCD and isn't necessary. I just like to open my hood and people in shock of how pretty the motor is.

This is a trail Jeep engine compartment I can promise you it'll be dirty within the first 2 months it's running.
I have 2 coats of clear on it now. Should I put more or?? And remember this is a flat paint and flat clear so it isn't gunna sparkle.
