Lifting
________________________________________

4wd
Leveling kit: From factory the rear of the truck is higher then the front, so when you put a load in it, it won't sag. A leveling kit lifts up only the front of the truck to make it level with the rear. If you want to make it level just crank up the torsion bars.

Lift kit: A lift kit lifts the front and back of the truck.

Body kit 2in. Note: 3in body lift is no longer made or sold, you can piece together your own kit yourself if wanted. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRA-PA-642/

Tire Sizes
________________________________________

How to decipher metric tire sizes
The first number is the section width of the tire in millimeters. This is not the bead width nor the tread width, this is the width of the widest part of the tire.
The second number is the aspect ratio. This is a ratio of the height vs the width. This number, as a percentage of the first number gives you the sidewall height.
The third number is the bead diameter (rim diameter) in inches.
*NOTE* 25.4 millimeters = 1 inch

Example) 235/75/15

Width = 235mm = 9.25". Height = 235*(75%) = 176.25mm = 6.94"
Total diameter = (6.94*2) + 15 = 28.88 inches
Converted to standard size, this is a 28.88 x 9.25 x 15 tire.

What can I fit on my 4x4?
Stock...29 -30 inches
1-2 inches... 31s
2-4 inches... 33s

What can I fit on my 2wd?

Wheel Info
________________________________________

This information covers what you need to know about offset and backspacing for choosing your aftermarket wheels...

Width
Advertised wheel width is measured bead to bead, not flange to flange. The standard measurement of a wheel flange is a 1/2 inch, and each side has one, so add 1 inch to the advertised wheel width to get the flange to flange measurement.

Offset
Offset is a measurement from the centerline of the wheel to the mounting surface of the wheel. Positive is toward the outside, negative is toward the inside.

Backspacing
Backspacing is a measurement from the mounting surface of a wheel to the inner flange. (Remember that 1/2 inch is added to the wheel width.) So on an 8 inch wide wheel with 0 offset, backspacing is actually 4.5 inches.

If offset is not 0, convert offset from millimeters to inches (1 inch = 25.4 mm) and add or subtract that number from the neutral backspacing (backspacing at 0 offset) of the wheel. For example, an 8 inch wide wheel with a -12 offset (-12mm converts to ~1/2 inch).... The -12 offset would put the wheel mounting surface closer to inside the flange, so backspacing would become less (which is why it's negative), so a 4.5 inch neutral backspacing minus 1/2 an inch gives a 4 inch backspacing.

How to use this info
So when you are looking for aftermarket wheels, you need to pay close attention to backspacing... offset is just going to be what it ends up being! Choose a wheel with the same or as close as possible to the factory wheel's backspacing. The reason backspacing is so important is because there is ample room outside the wheel well, but you need to make sure you clear everything inside the wheel well. So you can't go much higher than the factory wheel's backspacing or you run the risk of rubbing the fender wells, frame, or control arms. However, you don't want to go too much lower either, because the wheel bearings will take a more even load and last longer the closer the mounting pad of the wheel is to the centerline.

Factory Engine Swaps
________________________________________

4cly swap http://www.dakota-durango.com/forum/...d.php?t=126041

3.9L v6 to 5.2 or 5.9 v8 (LA to LA or Magnum to Magnum)

The 3.9L v6 is basically a 5.2L v8 with 2 cylinders missing. The mounting points are the same for the v6 and v8s. To do this swap, you will need a complete v8 with the v8s flexplate (or flywheel), wiring harness (or simply run your own wires for the extra injectors) and computer. The mounts from the v6 can be swapped to the v8. The v6 transmission will either need to be replaced or beefed up to handle the additional torque.

5.2L to 5.9L v8 (LA to LA or Magnum to Magnum)

The 5.2L and 5.9L v8s are externally identical engines, meaning they share the same dimensions and mounting locations. They also share the same heads and intake. The easiest way to do this swap is to get a 5.9L from heads down (long block). You will need the flexplate (or flywheel) and harmonic balancer for the 5.9L because the two engines are balanced different. Everything else from the 5.2 will swap over including wiring harnesses, injectors, and the computer.

Brakes
________________________________________
There are two rear brake sizes, 9 and 10 in. If you have the 9 in you can swap over a complete 10 in setup to gain better braking power.

Electric Fans
________________________________________

There is not a direct bolt in kit. The best choices are 90-95 Ford Taurus and Lincoln Mark VIII with the 3.8 litre engine. It has 2 settings, Low 2500CFM Hight 4500CFM. Or Get a dual fan unit from a Ford Contour/Mercury Mystique. or the dual fan from a 98-03 Intrepid.
Here is a Note from a fellow member. The Taurus electric fan is 2 speed and the Taurus did come with a 3.8L V6,
The Mark VIII was ONLY available with a 4.6L DOHC V8, and the fan is a single speed fan (fan speed is regulated by PWM(Pulse Width Modulation)).
The MN12 electric fan for the 4.6L SOHC (1994-1997) is a two speed fan, and will physically fit where the Mark VIII fan fits, albeit it doesn't suck as well as the Mark VIII fan does.
I think you can also use a dual fan unit out of an early/mid 90s Camaro. You may need to make custom mounts. You can also go to most parts stores or
www.summitracing.com and buy universal fans, check www.ebay.com too.
